Do I need to have wireless internet to use a wireless printer?
I have a dell laptop, and I use a sprint mobile broadband card thingy instead of having a wireless router. My mom just bought a wireless dell printer, will I be able to use it okay?
How will i set it up?
A wireless printer requires that you have a wireless access point or wireless router. Since your laptop has built-in wireless (not the Sprint Mobile Broadband card, but the standard laptop wireless that comes in them) this is the only wireless access point you need. This, in essence, creates a network, albeit a very small one with just one computer and printer, but it is all you need.
The Sprint Mobile Broadband card gets you access to the internet through wireless broadband (basically a cellphone type connection), but this is completely different from what the printer needs & uses. Your laptop should have a built-in wireless (G type most likely) networking capability which is what the printer will use.
What you’ll need to do is setup an “Ad-Hoc” wireless network between your printer and computer directly, you do not need an wireless router or anything else. Your printer’s User/Setup manual (usually on a CD that came with the printer) should have instruction on how to do it for your printer.

I’ve got a lexmark X4550 wireless printer and it was 79.99 from argos, its really good. i’ve got 2 laptops and a desktop hooked up to it. I’ve had no problems so far and prints are good quality.
