Wireless Printer And Fax Information
Understanding Wireless Printing
When it comes to wireless printing from your home or office, you have various options to choose from. Before you choose a wireless printing method, it’s important to understand what each option entails. Doing so will ensure that you choose – and invest in – a printing tool that’s right for your needs.
The most traditional way of connecting a printer to a WiFi access point is to install a print server. However, while this method has worked for countless individuals and companies over the years, a recurring issue is that it places a limit on where you can actually situate the printer – the main reason being that it requires a cable connection between your printer and printer server. What’s more, this method poses compatibility issues, as the print server is usually purchased on its own, and therefore isn’t always compatible with some of the other computer equipment. You can always opt for direct, wired connections between a router and a printer, but a cabled connection to a router will also affect your mobility in the home.
Another option is printer sharing – when your desktop PC is used to enable wireless laptop printing. This is another method that has worked for many homes. However, it requires that the computer is fully on at all times, meaning it can’t go into sleep mode. This method also requires two laptops or computers – one to hook up to your printer, and the other to work on wirelessly – which not everyone has access to.
One of the more successful methods of wireless printing today uses both a wireless printer and a router – and because many computers made in recent years are wireless capable, there are usually no compatibility issues with this method. Using a wireless printer with a router enables anyone to print within a wireless network, giving the user full mobility within that network. It also eliminates all cables and chords, meaning there’s less clutter. Finally, this method of wireless printing enables multiple users to print on a single printer, saving time, space and money.
With today’s advanced technology, your printing options don’t end there. In fact, when it comes to home and office printers, the varieties virtually seem endless. Printer companies now offer all types of router-enabled wireless printers including those that can also scan, fax, feed documents, access media card slots, and more. So it’s no wonder that multi-functional, router-enabled wireless printers – better known as WiFi printers – are quickly climbing the ranks as one of the most efficient tools on the market.

Wireless Printer And Fax Question
What is the best and smallest wireless home use printer?
I need a wireless printer that prints text well and photos/graphics in an okay manner. I don’t want to print Photos! I don’t want a fax, a scanner, or a copier. It must be wireless!! It must be compact and reasonablly priced. I will use it at home for two lap top computers (no desk tops).
What do you recommend? How much will it cost? Where can I buy it?
I am aware I can adapt almost any printer into wireless, however, I want a printer that is made as wireless without having to purchase any additional device/add on/ or attachment. Please help!
HP Deskjet 6988 – around $130.00
* • Fast printing: up to 36 pages/minute black, 27 color; 4800 optimized dpi color
* • Built-in wired and wireless printing and print sharing
or
HP Deskjet 460wf Mobile Printer – around $350

* • Long-lasting Lithium-Ion battery, Bluetooth printer card
Either of these can be purchased at the big box chain stores or purchased from HP directly at the following web site.

I bought a new printer?
I just bought it today when my fax machine broke. The
Model is : HP officejet pro L7780 all-in-one. i want to make this Wireless (it is a wireless printer…) but for some reason all i can do is save the settings on a flashdrive, and i dont want that. I have another wireless printer, and it works fine without a flash drive.
Any ideas or solutions as to how i can get this to work?
here are the instructions from HP:
Introduction
Change a Universal Serial Bus (USB) cable connection to a network connection or add a network connection to the unit. The network connection can be wireless or wired.
NOTE: It is not possible to simultaneously support both an 802.11 b/g connection (wireless) and an Ethernet connection (wired). However, it is possible to simultaneously support a network connection (wired or wireless) and a USB connection.
Connecting to a network
Choose one of the options below to connect the all-in-one to either a wired or a wireless network.
NOTE: If you want to have both a USB and Network Connection at the same time, skip steps 1 and 2. When the installation is complete the newly installed (network) print driver will be the default.
Changing a USB connection to a wireless connection
Delete the USB-connected printer from the computer.
Click Start .
Click Settings .
Click Control Panel .
Double-click Printers and Faxes .
Right-click on the printer that is connected using the USB connection and then click Delete .
Disconnect the USB cable from the back of the all-in-one.
Press the Setup button on the control panel. The Setup Menu displays.
Press the down arrow button to select Network and then press OK . The Network Menu displays.
Press the arrow buttons to select Wireless Setup Wizard and then press OK . The Wireless Setup Wizard displays.
Follow the instructions that display on the screen.
Insert the product CD into the CD-ROM drive on the computer. The startup screen displays automatically.
If the startup screen does not display automatically, use the following steps to start the installation manually:
Click Start .
Click Run . The Run dialog box displays.
In the Open: text box, type D:setup.exe , where D is the letter of the CD-ROM drive, and then click OK .
Select Add a Device and then click Next .
Follow the instructions that display on the screen.
When prompted for the connection type, select Through the network and then click Next .
Select Wireless and then click Next .
Follow the instructions that display on the screen to complete the software installation.
