Toner vs. Ink
If you run a small business or you use a small business sized printer, then you want a printer that you can depend on when you need it. It’s disappointing to walk up to your printer and find that you are out of ink. Although most printers warn you when the ink is running low, the warning may come too soon, encouraging you to waste ink.
There are varieties of printers available. Some printers like the Xerox Phaser color printers use solid ink. Regular laser printers use toners like the oki toner. You can choose which one you want based on how you will be using your printer. If you are doing graphs and charts as well as printing documents, you may want to consider solid ink. If you are using a printer to print out documents or the occasional school menu, then you will probably be happy with a laser printer.
As a choice for everyday printing, hp ink cartridges are often found to be an expensive alternative to laser printer brands such as Oki toner, especially when printing in bulk. If you are using a color toner printer, then you will need four basic colors; black, yellow, cyan, and magenta. The toner colors are usually good for about 30,000 pages before they need to be replaced using a maintenance kit.
Before you buy
Before you spend your money there are a few things you need to consider. Determine approximately the number of pages you will be printing each month. You will need to compare the speed of printing and the resolution offered in printers before you buy. Make sure you also take into consideration the cost of the ink.
Compare
While the advantages of ink include less packaging and less waste when compared to toner, toner offers a more affordable cost when using black and white. Laser printers are faster and offer higher resolution, which means better quality printing. Every brand name printer offers its own toner cartridges to choose from, so you can price them along with the printer.
