Flip camera: The world’s smallest HD camcorder and Camera

Minolta Yellow Question
I have a vintage 35mm camera. How can I make the photos look vintage? Is there a yellowing filter?
I have an Old 1969 Minolta super 3 circuit Hi-Matic 11. Everything works perfectly on it, and photos look great! I was hoping there was a way that I could find a way to get the Yellowing vintage look in these photos, without doing it digitally or scanning. Is there a simple and Economic way to get this wonderful effect? I want my pictures to look as old as the camera…. I cant believe I have a 40 year old camera that takes TOO good of pictures haha!
Any help or tips would be great!

That’s the ironic thing…antique cameras actually take excellent pictures. In fact, a good film camera like a 35mm SLR or TLR will often take MUCH better quality pictures than a brand new digital point-and-shoot camera. People think that antique film cameras will somehow take pictures that look “vintage” but they might be disappointed to find that the picture will look perfectly clear and razor sharp, with good colors.
There are some cameras that take pictures that have a unique or maybe a “vintage” look to them. I have an antique Zeiss Ikon Nettar folding camera, and it takes pictures with very low contrast and what I would describe as kind of “dreamy.” But that’s just a quirk with that camera…in general, if an antique camera is in good condition it will take good pictures.
I would suggest that maybe you try using a warming filter if you’re using color film. Or try shooting with black and white film and use filters to get a different effect. Like for example, use a yellow or orange filter to darken the sky and make people look lighter. You can also try using a red filter, which will make the sky look really dark (almost black) and will also give an interesting effect where people have an almost glowing appearance. Or try infrared film, or near-infrared film like Ilford SFX 200.
You can get a lot of different effects by using different kinds of film and filters…you don’t need to “Photoshop” anything. But the camera by itself is probably not going to take “vintage” looking pictures just because it’s an old camera. In fact, that’s the thing with film cameras…they DO take good pictures! Maybe too good in your case! Try different kinds of film and filters.
You can try using expired film, but usually what happens is that you’ll just end up with more fog and dull colors and you probably won’t get the look that you want. It would depend on how expired the film is and where it was stored.
