How does my new label maker print “dry” labels in seconds “P?
I bought a label maker from Staples….it’s the neatest thing. How do these things make instant label and not smear the ink when the label is touched??? I looked all over the net but couldn’t find an answer. The text on the labels is crisp, solid black and dry by the time the label comes out…..I don’t get it….please help.
They are laminated at the time they come out.
The paper is thermal so there is no ink. After it is printed a layer of transparent film is applied to the surface.
Look closely at the cartridge you will see two reels. One is thermal paper and the other is clear film.
Try to separate the clear film from the paper and you will see the awesome engineering that goes into these devices.
Thermal paper is very cool thing. Most of your receipt are printed on thermal paper.
Try this for a project- Take one store receipt and place it in the microwave oven for 2 seconds. Watch what happens.
