Why is the black ink not working in my printer?
I have a Kodak EASYSHARE 5300 All-in-One Printer. It was unplugged for about a month while we remodeled. I recently plugged it back in and put brand new ink cartridges in. When I first got this printer I was absolutely amazed at how good the print quality was. The photos looked like they had been professionally developed. But now I cant even print a word document that works decent. The ink is very light, no black shows up, and the color is either a light red or light blue. Both cartridges are brand new but the documents look like they have been printed with the very last drops of ink. What is wrong with my printer?
Inkjet printers have to be turned on every few days or the ink coagulates on the heads and clogs them. You may have to do several cleanings to get it to work. It may not help. If so, try dropping rubbing alcohol where the ink goes into the printer (under the cartridge). Then wait for it to evaporate. Then run a cleaning and see what happens. Good luck.

I have ink.I bought the Kodak ink 2x.It still will not print with anything on the paper.The cartridges are installed correctly. But yet not ink on paper. How do I fix this?
I pulled the plastic off the cartridge,and properly inserted it.I have did the same thing 10x before. Reinstalled the software, called the Kodak and said take it to be fixed. It runs fine and scan’s and sends to my pc.

I put my finger on each color and the 2nd cartridge which was black. They all made my fingers colored
don’t put your finger on the head or on the electrical parts. they are static sensitive. probably better to only open them at the printer.
don’t let any fluids get on the electrical parts. If there is/was any, wipe it off but don’t touch the head with a damp portion of a paper towel and dry it with the dry portion. you want those contacts clean and DRY.
could be a bad cartridge. it happens once in a while. try a new set of cartridges.
more likely, it’s the need to replace the print head. see 2nd link and look at link on how to replace the print head.
