HP Laser Cartridge Question
Ink cartridge in HP Color Laser 3600DN just exploded. Any suggestions for cleaning?
I have magenta powder ink all over the inside of the printer. I could really use some advice from someone that has had this problem on how to clean ink off the film.
Lots of paper towels, soak up all you can, alcohol is ok, don’t use any oil based cleaners like paint thinner.varsol or turpentine.
Get as much as you can, Q-tips and other cotton products like balls, just make sure you can get to all the areas the ink is in, the dried ink can cause the belts and pulleys to fail, and then you looking at a replacement, but with Canon and Lexmark selling printer for $35-40 it is something to keep it mind, if the unit is heating the ink cartridge to the point it explodes, there amy be a bigger problem on the horizon.
What kind of printer should I get?
I had a HP LaserJet 6L, which I liked very much, but due to ice being dropped on it, it has bit the dust. I was planning on getting another laser printer (found one on sale for $99 but the sale ended before I grabbed it), but now my dad is asking why don’t I just get an ink jet printer? So, now I’m wondering–why don’t I just get an ink jet printer? I mainly print things for home, but also for school (I’m a teacher). It probably would be nice to be able to print in color. So is this a no-brainer? Or am I missing something, having only had a laser printer for the last 5 years or so? I am looking to spend about $100, but less than that would be nice too. I also don’t want to be constantly buying ink cartridges.
So–laser or ink jet, and which model(s) would you recommend?
Inkjets and particularly all-in-ones are generally cheaper than lasers. Photo resolution is higher on an inkjet. Text is sharper on a laser and they tend to print faster than inkjets. With most epson inkjets and some Canons you can get free ink. But inkjets have one big drawback. If you dont print regularly, they tend to clog and the ink tends to dry. So if you will be printing regularly, at least every third day or so, an inkjet will be fine. If you print once a week or less, stick with a laser.
I have a Brother HL2040 I bought years ago for $50 which is still going strong. All it ever needed was toner cartridges at $30 each which print 3,000 pages.
If you are going for the inkjet, keep reading.

If that’s beyond your budget, the Epson Workforce 610 is $60 direct from Epson. It’s also wireless and has a 2 year warranty. But the Artisan is worth the difference in price.

Be careful with the latest epson printers. They use a brand new cartridge (T125) which you will have a hard time finding compatibles for. Unless you enjoy paying about $70 to replace your cartridges, stick to a printer which uses T069, T078 or T098.
