how do you make a homemade calander?
ok so if anyone knows can you tell me step by step cause i can be pretty slow so my friend made this calander for us for christmas and now i want to make one for my boyfriend but i have no clue how to. my freind had pictures of us for every mounth and on the frony and labeled our birthdays on the dates. does anyone have any idea how to do something like this? i also do have like high gloss paper at my house
Well you need to go to Joan’s to start with. (A craft store) and there should be your own “create a calendar kit,” which is roughly 10 dollars. This is the easiest thing to use if making a calendar.
In the calendar towards the end there is a section in it where it shows the dates for the following year so you don’t have to look everything up.
Also you might want to get some paint, glue, stickers, pens, etc, to decorate your calender.
It’s fairly easy but looks great in the end.

Painting unfinished furniture?
We bought quite a few pieces of unfinished furniture and made it our little project to paint them and make them look great for about 1/2 the price of just buying them. I think we acheived that. Depending on the piece, it took either 2 or 3 coats of high-gloss acrylic latex paint to acheive a good look. I must admit that I didn’t know a paint could be “acrylic latex”, but that’s what the label said…the brand name was Krylon, for anybody who is REALLY into painting.
Anyhow…a few questions:
1) The box and instructions said that primer wasn’t necessary…so we didn’t prime it. Now, we think it looks great and fine without it…but the real question is, would it have made it any easier?
2) If we decide to change the color some day…or remove the paint and stain it…how easy is it to sand it down and not make it obvious that we have already painted it before?? Does the wood look uneven then??
3) Any other helpful tips?

Good questions. I’ve seen instructions such as those where it says that primer isn’t necessary. In my opinion, it’s always necessary. A primer will put down a base coat of paint that will give the finish coat a good bonding surface as well as helping to cover the wood grain and any knots that might be in the wood. The primer will allow you to put on less coats of the finish paint. I’m not saying that what you did was wrong. Your furniture may hold up just as well.
As for staining, you will need to use a chemical stripper to take the paint completely off the wood before you can stain. You will then need to neutralize the stripper before doing some finishing sanding prior to staining. If you want to paint over the color that is there, all you need to do is use a fine sandpaper (such as a 220 grit) to take the shine off the wood so that the new paint will adhere to the existing finish.
