What To Look For Before You Purchase A Refurbished Computer
Refurbished desktop computers are giving consumers a cheaper alternative to brand new desktops and laptops. In a time when everyone is scrambling for ways to save money and bring down expenses, it is really wise to consider purchasing refurbished computers. However, it is also not surprising that many people are afraid of reconditioned or used computers because they think that these units would easily bog down. So, here are some steps that you might want to follow to ensure quality used computers.
The first step is to determine where you will use the computer. The components that you will need and the amount of RAM or type of processor that you will require depend on your reason for buying a computer. You cannot expect that all the refurbished desktop computers that you buy will have all the components and specifications that you need. If you are going to use it for gaming, make sure that you have a compatible video card and a RAM that will enable you to run PC games. If you are planning to use it to check your email or surf the Internet, then a modem or a NIC, Network Interface Controller, is necessary. Therefore, the second step in buying refurbished computers is to know the hard drive capacity, RAM, and the specifications of the unit that you are eyeing on. It is also important to check the system requirement of the software which you will use.
The third step is to test the PC before you buy. Do not be afraid to test as many refurbished desktop computers as necessary. You want to make sure that you are not buying a lemon computer and the only way to do that is to see if the hardware components, as well as software, are working perfectly. Also, be sure to ask the seller of the refurbished computers for warranty and return policies. A warranty of six months and above is a fairly good deal when it comes to reconditioned desktop computers or laptops.
Even if you are purchasing refurbished desktop computers, it does not mean that you will need to buy new ones every time you want a software upgrade or you have found new uses for a computer. Thus, the last step is to determine if your cheap computer is open for further upgrades. It is also important to know what if the software you are going to buy or use is compatible with your short-listed refurbished computers.

Compatible Refurbished Question
Are the GoPhone SIM cards 3G? If they are, then are they compatible with any 3g capable (AT&T) cell phone?
Also, do AT&T retail stores sell refurbished GoPhones? Thanks for the answers.
All AT&T sim cards are the same. Doesn’t matter which one you get. It will work with 3G. No, AT&T stores do not sell refurbished phones. Only the AT&T web sites sell refurbished phones.
Should I keep this refurbished playstation 3 or get a brand new one?
I purchased this Refurbished PS3 from best buy. It works fine but the casing is somewhat beat up, it looks like somebody dropped it a few times. Also its a 60 gig so its not backwards compatible and has no slots for SD cards etc. My question is whether I should keep this PS3, or send it in and get a new, PS3 “Slim” with more memory for basically the same price. Are there some benefits for having an older, “fat” PS3?
First off, joey is completely wrong. The ps3 slim DOES NOT have better graphics than the fat. The fat models of the ps3 have slightly better graphics than the slim because they have wifi capabilities, and a bigger motherboard for a better picture. If you connect a fat ps3 to an HDTV, you will get AWESOME picture quality, but if you connect a ps3 slim to an HDTV, the picture will just look average. This is because it took sony less time and money to make the slim, so the slim is cheaply made, not durable, and can easily break. Secondly, yellow light of death is JUST as common in the slim, if not more common, because the smaller air vents in the slim ps3 give less room for the air to circulate, making the ps3 slim overheat a lot because the air isn’t keeping an even flow. The fat ps3 has many good things about it. It is glossy, shiny, durable (doesn’t break as much as the cheap, skinny slim), and has an awesome colorful ps3 logo. The slim all you’re getting is a skinny piece of garbage that just looks ugly. The ps3 fat ALSO has faster loading times. I know people who have gotten 20 gb ps3s, and they haven’t complained ONCE about the amount of space on it. It’s more than enough memory for playing games and storing some music and photos. People who get the slim ps3 just simply because they have higher gb are just stupid, that’s a dumb excuse for getting a slim ps3. Also, sony doesn’t have time to fix EVERY ps3 that might have a problem for no charge. Whoever said that is wrong. It will charge you to get it repaired. Warranty ONLY applies to the store you bought it from, and even then they still have to charge you to get it repaired, and it will probably cost hundreds of dollars (around $500). It’s not worth it to get it repaired, because then if it breaks again, then you’d be out of all your money. Just get a new fat. You’ll be happy with your purchase. And the 60 gb fat is backwards compatible, just so you know. Check out the 60 gb ps3 fat, and other discontinued systems of ps3, that they still sell new on amazon.com:

I hope I helped, and hope you make the right decision for your ps3.
