Original or compatible ink

When you set up a computer system you pay whatever amount of money you can afford for a decent machine and associated hardware, such as a printer or fax machine, and sit back thinking that you don’t have any more money to pay. Of course this is not the case as you have to pay for printer paper, software updates, security systems and ink. If you print a large amount of work from your computer you will end up with a bill for paper and ink which will soon add up. Many people consider cutting costs by purchasing compatible inks rather than the originals which tend to be more expensive. However, you have to consider the advantages and disadvantages of each before you purchase. It is extremely difficult to decide which ink to purchase as you have the makers of the original ink saying that they can guarantee the quality but you also have the manufacturers of the compatible ink saying that there is no difference between the two except the price, which can be significant. Much of the choice will depend upon the brand of printer you have as well as the purpose of the work. If you have a large office where you are printing documents which are significant you will be better off with original ink cartridges as you will be guaranteed the quality. However, certain brands have much better quality compatible ink than others, such as Epson. Some printer manufacturers make their printers at an exceptionally low price, knowing that you will be forced to pay for the original ink cartridges which are high priced. Whichever printer ink you purchase, whether original or compatible you will find pros and cons for each. A company such as here at Abitech will be able to provide both the original and compatible ink cartridges for many types of hardware at low prices, making your computer system much more affordable.

Compatible Ink Epson Question

Epson Durabright ink is expensive…. is the compatible ink on Ebay a good alternative ?

Epson predictably say non genuine ink may harm the printer, is this true. Also, if the ink does’nt harm anything will the print quality be noticeably compromised ?

I’ve been using compatible ink for about 10 years. There have been several articles about it in PC magazine and other publications. It will NOT damage the printer. It will NOT void your warranty.
Someone I know had a canon printer and insisted on using only Canon ink. Then it needed a repair. She took it to the authorized Canon center. When she picked it up, they wanted to prove to her that it worked but it was out of ink. So they put in new ink – compatible cartridges. When she questioned them, they told her there wasn’t much of a difference and compatible was much cheaper. She’s been using compatible since.
Is the ink exactly the same as Epson? I don’t know. To me it looks good. Photos I printed ten years ago still look pretty much the same. But my supplier makes no claim about this lasting 100 years. I figure for the amount I’m saving I can reprint the photos in ten years if I have to.
So are compatibles 100% safe? Not since March 2007. That’s when inkjet companies won the right to make printers which refuse to recognize compatibles. Ever since then, a lot of the cartridges on ebay stopped working in the newer printers, and I know from experience. So I passed up the $2 cartridges which didn’t work and went back to the same supplier I’ve been using for years. He’s a little more expensive on the new ones (T069 and T078) at about $4, but they are guaranteed to work and they do. http://ccs-digital.com/ink.asp

Ink cartridge not compatible – is there way round it?

I bought a set of compatible cartridges for my Epson D92 and they’ve all been fine until now. I’ve had to change the magenta cartridge but the printer keeps telling me it’s not a compatible cartridge. It’s the right size and model despite not being a genuine Epson cartridge but I have LOADS of uni work to be handed in tomorrow and I can’t print anything. It’s too late to get cartridges from anywhere else now and it won’t even let me JUST print in black ink (of which I have plenty).

Please help!

When it comes to ink cartridges, printers can be touchy when their brand of cartridges are not used. You can try doing this, but I don’t know it it will help.

You may have tp repeat it

Remove the ink cartridge
Disconnect the power cord and USB cable
Reboot your computer
Reconnect the power cord and USB cable
Reseat the ink cartridge
