What’s the difference between HDMI 1.3 vs. 1.4 Cables and Connections?
Just bought a bunch of HDMI cables, amp/splitters and switchboxes to wire up the apartment.
I made sure the cables were (mostly) all HDMI 1.4 labeled. The interconnecting switch boxes or splitters don’t say 1.4 though. I understand none of this is relevant until you plug the ends into compatible HDMI 1.4 equip at each end points, BUT.. I can’t see any difference at all in cables in or interconnectors. Is there andy difference?
Do I need to buy HDMI 1.4 cables and interconectors, hubs and switchboxes or are they irrelevant part of the equation version-wise? There’s a big cost difference but everything can be interconnected and looks identical so.. are they?
Most cables I got were HDMI v1.4 so it can carry those extra protocols like ethernet, 3-D and audio return channel… at some distant time when needed. I don’t want to buy anything redundant.
HDMI cables can’t be labeled as 1.3 or 1.4, it is not illegal, but it is fraud, because they just confuse people like you.
There are only two main types of HDMI cables: standard, and high speed ( There is a version with ethernet, but lets not go there).
If you buy HDMI High speed you should be OK.
