6 Tips For Saving Your Money On Canon Ink Cartridges
The overhead costs of a printer are much more than what it costs you to buy a new printer. One of the most important components of these extra costs is the amount you spend on buying canon ink cartridges after every few days of use, especially so when somebody has a printing business. These are those extra expenses which many overlook. But there are few techniques which you can use to make your ink cartridge last longer. Some of them are discussed below:
Print What is Necessary
While printing graphics or texts decides which among them is more important and relevant. Do not waste your ink on something that is not useful. This helps in saving a lot of your ink.
Use the Print Preview
This will help you see how your document is going to look after it is printed. You can check for any errors and formatting. Turn off the option for coloured cartridges and select the texts and pages you want to print. You will not only save ink but your paper too.
Print the Texts instead of Graphics
Print only the texts which are relevant. Avoid graphics if you can. Prints only those that are absolutely essential.
Opt for the Draft Mode Printing if Possible
Go for draft printing mode. To opt for this, just go to the file option on the left hand upper corner and then click on print. This will present to you a box where the setting options for printing are listed. You then need to go to the properties option and click on it. Under the tab for printing quality, you can select the draft option.
Use Black Coloured Ink Cartridges
When printing black and white documents, use the black ink cartridge instead of coloured ink cartridges. The coloured ones use several colours for producing the black colour. This leads to wastage of a lot of coloured ink.
Buy Inks from Authentic Dealers
This will ensure that the amount of ink mentioned over the cartridge is actually present in the cartridge. The not so authentic ones generally write an amount which is much more than the ink that is actually p[resent within.

Colour Ink Question
How can I stop my printer from using colour ink on black and white print outs?
I never ever print out pages with colour, yet my printer manages to eat its way through my colour ink as quickly as it does the black ink. I’ve tried pressing the “mono colour” button on the printer but it doesn’t work; as I have no colour ink left, it won’t print anything, regardless of the fact that I just need to use the black ink. Is there a way to change the settings on my printer?
The “budget” printers use the color inks to make a pseudo black. That may be what is happening in your printer. If you have 4 or more ink cartridges, you should be able to print with just the black. The mono color button is not what you push, there is an option (black only) in your printer menu when you tell your printer to print.
