Brother Fax Cartridge Question
Brother MFC-5440CN?
We have one of these fax machines at work. Just changed the ink cartridge in it and it says “unable to clean, check troubleshooting guide in manual”.
I have checked this and it says that:
a) there may be a foreign obstacles (paperclip) or ripped paper – which there is not
or
b) mechanical problem.
It doesn’t go on to say what the mechanical problem might be.
Does anyone know if it is a simple problem or if it is terminal?!
We have had the machine about 18 months I suppose so I have no idea if it is still under warranty.

try starting by unplugging power and usb for 30 ~60 seconds to cancel out possibility of software conflict glitch ,
possibility of fax in progress,
and also try re-seating ink cartridge,
