my dell 3100 printer doesn’t alway fuse toner?
Sometimes my dell 3100cn doesn’t fuse the black toner to paper. If I switch it on & off it sometimes cures it but not always.
I don’t do much colour and that always seems OK, it’s so frustrating and wasteful printing off address labels then finding the print smudges.
The fuser may not be getting to the proper temperature to allow the toner to fuse properly. It’s odd though that turning the printer off then on again will sometimes fix it. If this only happens when printing labels, it may mean that you need to set the paper type to Labels in the printer so that it knows that it’s printing on labels and not regular paper, which can have an affect on fuser temperature. The other options would be to replace the fuser to see if that would help or adjust the fusing temperature in the printer to a higher level (usually there’s a menu option to make a couple of adjustments if needed.)
